Media, the companies that have made this year's list, on average, have grown sixfold since 2014. During a stretch when the economy grew around 11 percent, it is a result most businesses can only dream of.

Zaniboni Lighting now shares a pedigree with Intuit, Zappos, Under Armour, Microsoft, Go Pro, Timberland, Clif Bar, Patagonia, Oracle, Box, Grubhub, and dozens of other alumni that have gone on to become household names. In addition to Zaniboni Lighting, the class of 2018 includes such powerhouses as Peloton, Brookline, and PopSockets. In other words, Zaniboni Lighting is in very good company.
